The Fall Guy

  1. Brian, enjoying hearing about your experiences in the inaka! I was surprised to read what you said about the driver's licenses - is that a countryside thing? I've always heard from people here that going to a driver's school costs $2-3000 and the testing is quite challenging.

  2. Hi! I was going by what the students in a local Eikaiwa had said. I don`t know how much (if any) location matters, but upon researching, it seems that you are mostly right. Apparently, if a Japanese citizen decides to take an expensive driving course, they do not take a practical:

"Most Japanese do not take the practical test. They spend somewhere to the tune of 300,000 yen for a full Driving School Course. With a diploma from an accredited school, they do not need to take the practical test, though they still have to take the written test." (From this incredibly informative site, should you need a license.)

Thank you, and I will fix the claim tonight! (And research sources 100%) :)

  3. We could probably use the over 75 sticker in the US too! (I was going to guess they were air fresheners, so at least I was in the realm of "car") Really enjoying your updates, Brian!
